Wish I were back on the bayou
Rollin’ with some cajun queen

Just a-chooglin’ on down to New Orleans

Born on the bayou (mmm, mmm, mmm)
Born on the bayou (do it, do it, do it)
(All right)

Intro Riff (x2)

Born on the bayou (ow, ow)

PERFORMANCE NOTES:

- Each time you play the intro/main riff, only play the slide
up from the 2nd fret the first time. Start the riff from the
first 7th fret note when you repeat.

- The majority of the song uses just the E7 chord repeated over and
over, with the E9sus4 chord added in briefly at certain points
(listen to the song to hear the exact rhythm).

- The D and A chords are used after the line “chasin down a hoodoo
there” in the 1st and 3rd verses, and after each “born on the
bayou” in the 1st and 3rd choruses. (Listen to the song to hear
the exact rhythm of the E7-D-A-E7 chord change).

- The two Fills come in during the section where you are playing
riff #2 seven times. On the 5th time, replace the second half
of riff #2 with Fill #1. After playing it the final time, add
Fill #2 to the end of the riff. (A good cue to use to remember
when to use Fill #1 is that John Fogerty quickly mumbles something
like “oh get back buddy” right before Fill #1 is played).
